BROWNS DE KENARD LANG NAMED AFC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Stats:  3 sacks for 25 yards, 3 tackles, 2 QB pressures, 1 forced fumble

 

Cleveland Browns DE Kenard Lang was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week, the NFL announced this morning.  Lang had 3 sacks for 25 yards, 3 tackles, 2 QB pressures and 1 forced fumble in the Browns 20-3 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon.  As a defensive unit, the Browns defense held the Ravens to only 254 net yards of offense, including only 88 net yards rushing, and held Baltimore RB Jamal Lewis to 57 yards rushing on 20 carries (2.9 avg.)

 

Lang, 6-3 and 280 lbs., provided his first sack in the 2nd quarter on Ravens QB Kyle Boller.  In the 4th quarter, Lang had a sack on back-to-back plays, including a key defensive play with a sack and forced fumble, which the Browns recovered, and three plays later, Browns QB Jeff Garcia scored on a 3-yard TD run to open a 20-3 lead.

The Cleveland Browns signed TE Doug Zeigler to the practice squad and have waived DB Ricky Sharpe from the practice squad, the club announced today.
